Eutelsat, Voimatel boost Arctic Circle coverage

Eutelsat Group and Finnish network service provider Voimatel have entered into a strategic agreement to enhance telecommunications connectivity across the Arctic Circle and broader Finnish territory. The partnership leverages Eutelsat OneWeb’s low Earth orbit satellite constellation to provide high-speed, low-latency data services to enterprise and public sector customers. This collaboration aims to address the significant geographical challenges posed by the northern landscape, where traditional terrestrial infrastructure often remains insufficient or economically unfeasible.

Voimatel will integrate these satellite capabilities into its existing portfolio of critical infrastructure and connectivity solutions. By utilising the OneWeb constellation, the operator can offer reliable broadband access to remote industrial sites, emergency services, and government facilities located in high-latitude regions. The low Earth orbit technology is particularly suited for these areas as it provides better signal angles and reduced latency compared to traditional geostationary satellites orbiting at much higher altitudes.
