Expanded Perks for O2 Subscribers Include Discounted Movistar Plus and Zero-Cost Devices

August 24, 2026

Subscribers of the telecommunications provider O2 now have access to a broader range of advantages, encompassing both digital entertainment and hardware upgrades. The company has announced that individuals currently enrolled in standalone fiber-optic packages or convergent mobile and internet plans that lack television services can now add the Movistar Plus streaming platform to their accounts. This promotional offer allows O2 users to access the over-the-top service for a monthly fee of €6, representing a significant reduction from the standard retail price of €9.99.

This streaming add-on provides a robust library of media, featuring a curated selection of more than 80 television channels. The content spans a wide variety of genres, including original productions from Movistar Plus, international cinematic releases, and documentaries. Sports enthusiasts will also find value in the package, as it includes coverage of major soccer competitions such as LaLiga EA Sports and LaLiga Hypermotion, alongside premier matches from the Champions League and the English Premier League. Furthermore, the subscription extends to other athletic disciplines, providing viewers with access to professional golf, rugby, tennis, and basketball.

In addition to the entertainment options, O2 is broadening its hardware incentives starting August 20. Customers who maintain service plans with a monthly cost of at least €40 are now eligible to obtain new electronic devices starting at a price point of €0. This initiative includes the Samsung Galaxy A17, which marks the first time O2 has offered a 5G-compatible smartphone for no upfront cost. These device offers come with several consumer-friendly terms, such as a four-year warranty period, complimentary shipping, and no mandatory contract duration.

According to Mariano Domecq, who leads O2, these updates are part of a strategic effort to reward customer loyalty and position the brand as a premier provider of digital solutions. These consumer-facing improvements happen against the backdrop of larger infrastructure efforts by Telefónica, O2's parent company. The telecommunications giant has been modernizing its network to enhance reliability while prioritizing sustainability. Despite a massive increase in data usage over the past decade, Telefónica has successfully lowered its overall energy footprint by 12%.
