New Cybersecurity Defense Solution for Medium-Sized Enterprises Unveiled by Telefónica
July 11, 2026
In an effort to bolster the digital defenses of medium-sized organizations, Telefónica has introduced an innovative Managed Extended Detection and Response (MxDR) service. Specifically tailored for the Spanish market, this cybersecurity offering targets companies operating between 150 and 1,000 devices. The initiative is spearheaded by Telefónica Tech, the company’s specialized digital business arm, and aims to provide high-level protection to a segment that is frequently pursued by cybercriminals but often lacks the internal resources to maintain a dedicated security staff or complex infrastructure.
The service utilizes the AI-driven Falcon platform from CrowdStrike, merging it with the extensive network knowledge and human expertise found within Telefónica’s global network of Security Operations Centers (SOCs). This collaboration allows for the round-the-clock surveillance of a client’s entire digital footprint, encompassing cloud environments, physical servers, employee identities, email systems, and workstations. By combining automated artificial intelligence with manual analysis by security specialists, the service can identify, investigate, and mitigate risks in real time. Rather than simply notifying a client of a potential breach, the goal of this service is to deliver a resolved situation or provide precise, expert-led guidance to ensure business operations remain uninterrupted.
Customers can choose from three distinct service levels: Essential, Advanced, and Premium. Beyond immediate technical defense, the solution is designed to help businesses comply with modern European regulatory frameworks such as the NIS2 directive and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). These regulations mandate that essential industries and financial institutions implement robust incident notification and recovery protocols.
This launch comes at a time of rising digital threats. Data from the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) indicates a significant upward trend in cybercrime, with over 122,000 incidents recorded in 2025, marking a 26 percent rise over the previous year. Malware and ransomware continue to be the primary methods used to disrupt business continuity. By launching this managed service, Telefónica looks to act as a secure gateway for digital transformation, allowing mid-market firms to focus on their core commercial activities while leaving complex threat hunting and incident response to professional analysts.
